How to complete your Goldseam asset profile
What is an IP profile?
In the simplest terms, an IP or asset profile is a documented description of all the intangible assets that go together to form an innovation, itemising any registered rights and summarising the remaining intellectual assets that are applicable.
Our free GoldseamĀ® profiling tool allows you to describe your innovation and all of its component parts by making selections for lists that we have put together for you. It could also help you to identify intangible assets that you hadn't previously considered significant.
You can put all of your IP together in one profile (possibly the best option if you're hoping to borrow against all of your IP), or break it down into separate bundles (useful if you're looking to sell or license a specific bundle), depending on what you want to achieve with your profiles afterward.
Your Goldseam asset profile can be downloaded as a PDF document and updated freely as and when needed.
What can I use my IP profile for?
First and foremost, the Goldseam profile platform can be used to help you work out all the IP and intangible assets that relate to your innovations. It's possible there are some assets you hadn't previously considered.
Once it's completed, you can use the profile to illustrate the breadth of your intellectual property to interested parties, like potential investors, lenders and stakeholders. You could use it to monitor the development of your IP, revisiting it periodically and updating it as changes are made. And, most importantly, you can use it as the basis for an IP valuation with our Sollomon online valuation tool, or to establish some potential action points with our Appraise interaction action plan. You can even use it as the basis for a Services project, perhaps a more detailed audit or a commercialisation strategy.
